Do any of you mechanical (or non-mechanical for that matter) trend followers ever hedge your trade risk with net credit spreads?
It would seem a logical thing to do in terms of "smoothing out the equity curve" while maintaining open ended upside potential.

Therefore, basing any trading decision on the distinction between open and closed equity, and/or the historical price at which a position was entered, is illogical.
I would be interested if anyone can find a flaw in my argument.
Perhaps the difference is based on psychology and performance ...
