Heads up, bad open interest data causing roll for ES
CSI #487 (Emini SP): Data for 20110114 showing an open interest of "0" (for those using Total Open Interest). This is causing a roll issue for those trading ES, creating a bad roll to June (which we all know doesn't make sense). I have emailed CSI to correct the data, just thought I'd make...

Paul, Thanks for the update, looks like they bumped the bust level a bit after I talked to them. Sluggo, Great post, all excellent ways to attempt to avoid these types of moves. Obviously, not having any orders working in the market (#3) would be the most obvious way of avoiding these erroneous move...

They are busting all trades below 94000. Yet ANOTHER situation (three by my count in the last year) where there was literally no market depth and the Peso had another insanely large and unjustifiable movement. Regardless, they are holding fills at insane levels and I am personally advising clients t...

Josiah, There are a few ways to handle this. First off, Trading Blox has a trigger in the Global Parameters that handles this specifically: Trade Futures on Lock Day When set to false, you will not have fills on any type of order (exit nor entry) entry on limit up or limit down days, when the trade ...

Dave, There are many, and you have highlighted two biggies. My favorites: - Parameter Stepping (the ability to test multiple parameter sets with one click), which is one of the biggest benefits - Ability to easily figure in real world costs (commissions AND slippage AND roll slippage/cost) and earne...

Agreed 100%. There seem to be a ton of products and synthetics that could be created around the idea of housing futures. I have a workspace that I actually open every few weeks to track the prices and volumes in the housing futures. I am going to keep a close eye on these as I think they will be nic...

They came out with a lot of fire, much like the Ethanol futures, but have not had a serious catch with speculators nor hedgers to this point. I do see a ton of potential going forward, and I'd love to trend follow them as housing seems like a trend friendly market. Perhaps they'll dump more marketin...

Ive traded them from time to time for clients. The only markets that seem to have any reasonable trades (from my memory) are LA, LAV, Miami, NY and Chicago. I think that San Diego and a couple of other regional markets were much thinner. You can trade with limit orders and I've had clients carry pos...
